I’ve been drawing since I was a little kid. I became more serious about art during high school, where I also learned how to use Adobe Illustrator. It remained a hobby until I worked as an intern for Salt Lake Comic Con, where I was inspired by working with local artists. My confidence was further boosted at that convention when Jennifer Hale and Weird Al Yankovic both praised the art I had made for them. In March 2017, I started my business D.T.HAINS Art, combining my love of making art with my love of all things geeky.
Since starting my business, I have started two successful Kickstarter campaigns. The first was to make playing cards featuring Sith, and the second was to make playing cards featuring Jedi.
In July 2019, I had my biggest commission yet. I was reached out by the management for the internationally-renowned musician Lights. She and her team had seen and shared some fan art I made earlier, and they wanted me to create a poster for her acoustic tour. It was such an incredible experience!

Hey Dan!
I met you at the Salt Lake Comic Conference last week. Are you the one who had the picture where the Demigorgon was chasing after Will? I want to make a t-shirt out of that. Can I buy the image from you? and/or do you make shirts?
Also, I’d love to feature you on my weekly Steem Monster Show – it’s a live talk show where we feature art, lore, music, and gaming champions of the online collectible trading card game called Steem Monsters (steemmonsters.com).
We always love spotlighting our fans and helping people get more connected. So if you wanna be featured on my show, let me know and we can figure something out.
You may also be interested in entering the art contests they host for the game as well. Winners get free cards, cryptocash, exposure on the game webpage, and money for the “likes” you get on your art.
Anyway, I thought you were a super nice guy, and a great sense of humor. I’d love to pull you into my little crowd. We could use someone like you.
The whole thing is hosted on a blockchain called STEEM. I can tell you more about it if you want. But I’m definitely interested in your demigorgon. 😀
Hey, Becky, glad to hear from you! Funny enough, I’m not the guy who made the Demigorgon art you’re thinking of. Although I am a super nice guy with a good sense of humor! If this isn’t a deal breaker, I would love to be on your show!
