MUSIC-RELATED ART

MISCELLANEOUS ADLAB PROJECTS

Here’s when I created a massive portrait of Brigham Young out of post-it notes.

I own a button maker, and designed and made a bunch of buttons. I then left them in a bucket in the AdLab with a sign saying FREE. Here are the button templates.

ABSTRACT ARTISTIC STUFF AND THINGS

I took an abstract, non-conventional art class in college back when I was a studio art major. Here’s some of the stuff I came up with in the name of Art.

Sitting in the middle of BYU’S fine arts building, ripping apart a copy of twilight.

By nature I am a more introverted person, so this took guts. I was wearing headphones to keep in time with the song, and only after finishing did I realize that a crowd of 200+ people had gathered around to watch. In retrospect, this is probably a little harsh. Yes, Twilight is garbage, but as an artist, I wouldn’t appreciate people ripping up my garbage work. Irregardless of how I feel now, at the time this performance piece took a lot of nerve.

WEARING A SHIRT THAT SAYS “LIFE” AND HANDING OUT LEMONS TO STRANGERS

The unconventional introvert strikes again! Yes, we’ve all read those corny tumblr posts saying that this would be an omg lol thing to do, but I had never heard of anyone actually doing it! So I did it. It was also really hot that day, and my shirt was a heavier, sweater material. The things I do for art (and a good grade).

SOMETHING THAT DOESN’T INVOLVE ME DOING WEIRD STUFF IN FRONT OF STRANGERS

I have a weird habit of associating times in my life with pop culture events going on. That also extended into my memories of music. I can remember the age I was and the things going on in my life when I discovered many of these bands. So I created my I See My Life In Terms of Music video, showing how my musical tastes evolved as I grew up. Everything’s there: the good, the great, and the embarrassing. If I ever owned a CD by them, they’re in here.

“WE’RE NOT GOOFING OFF, WE’RE CREATING MUSICAL FUSION.” – Jack Black

In high school I played bass for the jazz band and keys for the show choir band. I also played bass in a blues band with some of my friends.

Here are some of the cover songs I’ve made in my free time.
